This kit is supplied in a package of 192 tests by Arghvan Teb Kavian. Prolactin is produced in the anterior pituitary gland and secreted periodically. This hormone consists of 198 amino acids with an approximate molecular weight of 22 to 23 kilodaltons.

Prolactin is found in serum in three forms. The biologically active form of a single unit or monomer (little) which is the dominant form of prolactin in serum and makes up about 80% of serum prolactin. There are 5-20% in the biological inactive form of two units or dimer (big form) and 0.5-5% in the inactive four-unit tetramer form (very large or big-big) in the serum. prolactin target organ,It is the mammary gland that stimulates its growth and differentiation.

High concentrations of prolactin have an inhibitory effect on the production of steroids in the ovary and the production and secretion of pituitary gonadotropins. This condition, referred to as macroprolactinemia, is not accompanied by significant clinical symptoms due to the inactivity of the large forms and must be distinguished from true hyperprolactinemia.
