Free PSA Elisa 192T

Application of Free PSA Elisa 192T kit

The PSA Free ELISA kit of Arghvan Teb Kavian Company is designed to quantitatively measure the free form of Prostate Free Antigen specific (PSA-f) in serum or plasma. This kit is supplied in a package of 192 tests by Arghvan Teb Kavian. Prostate-specific antigen or PSA is a type of serine protease from the kallikrein family that is made exclusively in the epithelial cells of the prostate gland.

PSA production is regulated by male sex hormone receptors or androgens. Due to its high tissue specificity, PSA measurement has been used the most as a tumoral index. Most of the PSA produced in the prostate enters the seminal fluid and plays the role of removing the seminal fluid from the coagulation state. There is always some PSA in the blood, which is quickly deactivated due to the formation of a complex with endogenous protease inhibitors such as 1-antichymotrypsin (ACT), alpha-2-macroglobulin and alpha protease inhibitor (API).

The aforementioned forms are called PSA complex or cPSA. About 90% of cPSA is bound to ACT and is measured in the total PSA test, but its complex with alpha-2 macroglobulin cannot be measured by the usual total PSA test methods. Only about 10 to 30% of total PSA exists in serum in free form, which lacks protease activity. Prostate cancer is one of the common problems of men, especially in old age.

Various investigations have shown the prevalence of prostate cancer in men between 70 and 79 years between 36 and 51%. During the evaluations carried out on the diagnostic and therapeutic analyzes performed after obtaining high results of the PSA test, it was determined that the total PSA test alone does not have sufficient sensitivity and (diagnostic) specificity to diagnose or screen malignancies of the prostate gland and its increase in non-malignant cases. , such as benign prostate enlargement (BPH) is observed.

In order to increase the diagnostic feature of the total PSA test, other parameters such as the age-based normal range, the calculation of the ratio of free PSA (fPSA) to total PSA (tPSA/fPSA) and the specific measurement of the PSA complex with ACT (ACT-PSA) were introduced. Regarding the ratio of free PSA to total PSA, it should be said that the importance of this component is in people whose total PSA is between 4 and 10 ng/ml of plasma, and in cases of total PSA more than 10 or less than 4 ng/ml of this ratio It has no diagnostic value.

Larger ratios of free PSA to total PSA are closer to health. For example, while 65% of people over 70 years old with a tPSA/fPSA ratio of less than 0.1 have prostate cancer, only 16% of people in the same age group with a tPSA/fPSA ratio of more than 25% have prostate cancer. Measuring the tPSA/fPSA ratio in people undergoing treatment, especially hormone therapy, has no diagnostic value, and this ratio may lead to misleading results when tPSA and fPSA are measured by diagnostic kits of two different manufacturers.
